~sighs~ yes, I know it's been a long time.

After four months, I've finally got a job!  It's a nothing retail job, kid's department at Kohl's.  I just need something right now, so that's fine.  four months has even made me desperate enough that's I'm glad to be getting this offer.
By an ironic coincidence, I also got an e-mail today apparently about my resume on Monster, asking me to interview for a sales position.  Totally my dream job, right.

In other news, there are three kittens and two adults living in the parking area of our building.  There's this huge truck loaded with wood that's been sitting there for ages, and they've taken up residence there.  The kittens are adorable, but incredibly shy and skittish.  Alex and I think what happend was that the adult we've been assuming is the mother was the pet of some people who moved after the fire, and she got left behind by accident.  We've been feeding them and have the numbers for a few shelters, we're going to call soon and arrange to have them picked up.

I came up with the idea of doing a graphic novel adaptation of Pride and Prejudice a couple months ago, and the people I've mentioned it to have liked the idea.  I don't think my drawing ability is up to the callenge yet, though.  Alex suggested we collaborate on a web comic, wich would be alot of fun and give me the practice I need.  We've yet to come up with a concept though, but we'll see.

After a series of minor disasters, Alex and I finally got moved. the new place is nice, but out in the boonies. there's seriously nothing withing walking distance. the fact that our building is about as deep in the complex as you can get just compounds the problem. but, oh well. next up, JET interview, finding a job, and getting decent internet. the main Rockford library is seriously the wierdest I've ever seen.

One step closer! got an e-mail from the jet program, Alex and I've both gotten as far as being accepted for an interview. when that comes around, I'll need to convince them that I'm a confident, mature individual who could do reasonably well in front of a class of High school students. Japanese students, mind you, but still. imagine something about like an elite prep-school here, and that's about what I picture a Japanese high school as being like. that's probably something of an exaggeration though.

happy new year, everyone! I miss not seeing or hearing from you all. anyone who's in the vicinity and inclined for a get-together, let me know. right now, I'm in the middle of looking for a new apartment, but sometime next month should be feasable. I will also be making a trip down to st. lewis to visit the family, at some point, but that shouldn't be too big of a problem.

anyway, I am done with Beloit! (assuming I passed archival research, wich I believe I should have). I just need my diploma. either it's still sinking in, or I've gotten used to the idea already because it, surprisingly, doesn't feel strange. I'm ready for the "real" world.

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving everyone. guess it's been longer than I intended. Alex's brother was here for the week, got a ride with friends who live in Milwaukee. They had a good time hanging out, and it was nice to have another person here for thanksgiving. I pretty much made the meal, but that wasn't really a problem since I took the easy way out on the stuffing and gravey. and vegetables. and rolls.

Anyway, how are all of you? hope things are going as well as possible.
wish me luck with my JET application, and Beloit and Vicinity entry. I'll try to remember to post pictures of the pieces I'm entering on Facebook, if any one cares.

hey, everyone. now that I've gotten through the overload of midterms, I have a week to relax. well, sort of. I have some reading to do, and the JET application to work on. I would like to see those of you who I can, since I have some time. I can't wait to be done with the semester.

guess it's been a while, huh. Anyway, the semester's going pretty well now that I have my classes fixed and am settling in to the semester. I had to drop Inorganing chem, but I'm taking intermediate drawing instead.

Alex has a job, which is wonderfull, even it it isn't anything great. Cafe at the Borders down in Rockford.

more later, I guess.

http://www.quietagent.com new job search site, if you ~pokes~ haven't seen it. seems like it's worth a shot. It might not be much use at first, because it's brand new. that's the only problem. FACS mentioned it in their weekly e-mail. see, they can be of some help. maybe

ok, for the record, if any one wants to get ahold of me, you're gonna have to call or e-mail and be patient untill I answer. My only internet access is at the college library. (ok, so I haven't tried the public library yet). This means that I will only be on LJ and such sporadically, as per my norm in the summers. see my last post for my cell phone number. Just thought I'd make that clear. I want to hear from you guys.

I'll probably get up to Waukesha again at some point. I'll try to give more notice. Maybe see some of you at Summer Fest?

Don't be told what you want
Don't be told what you need
There's no future, no future,
No future for you

I adore the Sex Pistols imensly at the moment. no, I don't think I can explain why.

eeeee! just got back from filling out an app for renting a place just off campus! now I'm just left wondering wether to follow up with the other places now, or to wait untill I talk to the woman again tomorow morning. advice needed!

edit: shit, now I'm freaked out again. she understandably want's assurance that she's going to get her rent, but my parent's co-signing is going to be a problem logistically.

ok, I've just had a terrible scare. Kali is writing a paper on contoversies that have come up in anthropology over the years. At dinner she started talking about this anthro department head of some university in Germany who for the last TWENTY YEARS has been a top authority on radiocarbon dating and how he's been BULLSHITING his dates! They found out he can't even work the fucking machine. He's handled samples from sites ALL OVER THE WORLD, and now the objects have to be tracked down and redated. Jomon, for instance, probably isn't as old as has been thought. I tried to find information on this online, Kali said she found stuff about it on reputable news sites. I'm just still trying to process this. More later, once I can bring myself to search properly.

How is this possible, and if it's true why hasn't it been in the news.
Another girl at the table and I spent the meal after this debating between torture methods. accupuncure needles, anyone?

BBC doesn't seem to be turning anything up. strange.

dios, this pisses me off.

I'm so excited about this summer. Anyone have any advice on finding an appartmet around here? And how long does it take to register for a FACS car?

It's going to be strange without people in the fall, but I'm happy for my friends and their plans. Well, those whose I know of.

life is good. at least for the moment.

I was draged out of bed today by the phone ringing. I was mostly awake so it didn't really annoy me. Turned out to be the currator of collections from Midway Village (a pioneer-era reconstruction of a town near Rockford) offering me an internship working in the collections! Unpaid, but hey. Not just setting up an interview, but saying 'yeah, we can use you'. I'm supposed to call her back once I figure out what sort of a sheduale I want for the summer. I'm waiting to hear back from some other places, but how long do I wait? This one would be good, but I think I'll wait a couple days, see if I hear back from either of the art museums.

so, yeah. I mailed out seven reumes and coverletters yesterday, cost me almost three dollars total. Last night I realized that I hadn't signed ANY of the letters. I totally forgot. they still have my name on them, typed. Sarah said they might not even notice, and of all the mistakes I could have made, that's probably the most minor. Still, this does not bode well for my summer plans.

Also, I got a thing in the mail for the exit "conversations" we have to do as well as a check list of all the things we should make sure we do. so now I have to figure out who to talk to to explain that I am not graduating until next semester and figure out what's going on. grrrr.

have to read this. as well as the gosple of Thomas, someday. I'm really facinated with Gnosicism and apociphal texts, not included in the standard bible. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/04/0406_060406_judas.html The page is being finicky, give it time.

oh, yes, Alex whas the one who first mentioned to me that this was getting attention.

yeah, it's been a while. meh.

got my first application sent out for a summer internship. Museum of Contemporary art, Chicago. Just need to get a dozen more ready to ship. fortunatly these should only require a resume and cover letter, and no letters of recomendations or writing samples.

philosophy is not something I enjoy studying in a class setting. it really bites infact.

I have three more papers due in the next month, and then I will be done for the semester.

Graduation is frighteningly close. ONE more semester. I'm looking forward to my classes. I'll be walking with my class in May though. The 14th, if any of you want to/can come. I'd love to see you.

I don't know yet where I'll be this summer. I'm looking for an internship in Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, and around here. Alex and I are planing to get an appartment. If we end up in Chicago, anyone want to share a place? The ACM has flats they rent out, but they are for 3 or 5 people.

Apparently, according to Iria, Brokeback Mountain AND The Passion are going to be released soon on dvd. Both just in time for Easter. I am greatly amused. This country makes no sense.

I swear that the only difference between Philosophy and Mythology is how explicit the supernatural element is. and that's not even a difinitive distiction.

Everyone adored my descriptions of the artworks in my feature on Beloit and Vicinity! yay for positive workshoping. well, we'll see if the writen comments are as positive.

Do Wolfwood plushies exist? I want one so badly to go with my Vash, but have never been able to one.

Alex has been and gone. He'll be back for graduation though. I can't believe I'm so close to finishig college. The real world is teasing me with grad school and Japan.

so glad I went to the artist's lecture today. it was the guy who I spoke to briefly at the art opening who has his own exhibit up. the hour and a half felt like maybe half an hour, honestly. I must profile this guy for my journalism class.

also, to everyone leaving on break, if I don't see you before then, have fun.
